Product Update [2018.04.08]

Firware upgraded to version 113-15001-113 with bugs fixed and minor improvements. See Firmwares
Analog board has been upgraded to "F" version. A protection resistor (R20) was inserted in the input to avoid short caused by couple switch. [schematic ]

Product Update [2017.12.05]

Firware upgraded to version 113-1501-110 with many useful improvements. See Firmwares
This product is now CE certified.

Product Update [2017.06.10]

Some modifications have been made to the product to enhance robustness. The changes are detailed below. The new main board PCB version is 109-15000-00E (the older one is 109-15000-00D). The new analog board PCB version is 109-15001-00E (the older one is 109-15001-00C). These are the documents that reflect the changes.

Analog board changes: [Photo] [Updated version: 109-15001-00E (E version)]

Regulators were added to increase immunity to power supply noises.
The two capacitor trimmers were changed to SMT package.
J3 in the old desigen (C version) was removed. Because slots have been made on the main board this pin-header is unnecessary for access to the trimmers.
U4D in C version was removed due to the availability of AV- regulator.
U4A in C version was removed due to firmware improvement in trigger algorithm. As result, this analog board requires the support of firmware version 113-15001-060 or later.

Main board changes: [Updated version: 109-15000-00E (E version)]

Added protection resistors to signals SENSEL0 - SENSEL3 and CPLSEL.

General Descriptions of Product

DSO Shell has similar bandwitch as DSO138 but contains significant improvements in structure, mechanical, and operation.

Display and MCU are now mounted on the same board (mainboard) to avoid using inter-board pin-headers. Feedback from DSO138 usres have shown that soldering on the pin-headers are often problematic for many beginners. Analog channel is placed on a separated board which contains most user install parts. This brings in better separation between analog and digital circuits. Without the analog portion the mainboard is actually a general purpose control board that can be used in many other applications. The mainboard is fully installed (except a few through-hold components) and factory tested before packing.

DSO Shell comes with full enclosure. The front panel and top/bottom brackets are flexiable for easy user modification.

Rotary encoder has been added. It makes parameter adjustment much quicker and easier.

The sensitivity of DSO Shell has been extended in both directions and is higher and wider than DSO138. It reaches 5mV/div --- 20V/div while DSO138 is only 10mV/div --- 5V/div.

DSO Shell kits are provided in two configurations, 15001K and 15002K. The difference between them is mainly on the analog board. 15001K has all SMD parts on the analog board pre-soldered and leaves through-hole parts for user to install. 15002K has no parts pre-soldered. All components (including SMD's) on the analog board are to be installed by user.

DSO Shell runs on 9V (do not use power voltage higher than 10V!) power supply. Users need to prepare their own power supply since it is not included in the kits. The power jack on the mainboard accepts standare 5.5mm/2.1mm DC plug. Alternative 2-pin connector (0.1" pitch) is also provided for convenience to connect to different power sources.

Important Notes

It is assumed that users have adaquate soldering skills and troubleshooting skills to assemble the DSO Shell kits. Buyers are advised that due to skills of user is involved in assembly it is not guaranteed every kit will end up being a working device. But we will make as much efforts as we can to approach that goal.
After receiving the kits users are urged to check mainboard and LCD by applying proper power supply. Report immediately to your seller or JYE Tech if problem or damage is found.
For 15003K kit SMD component soldering skills are required. SMD parts should be installed before all other through-hole parts.
